Queenswood is located on southern Vancouver Island, about 20 minutes's drive from downtown Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Tucked away on a 14-acre forested property in the neighbourhood of Cadboro Bay, we're just around the corner... and yet a world away.
Queenswood is at 2494 Arbutus Road in Cadboro Bay (across from Goward House). Enter the drive and follow the signs to the main entrance.
The directions below will help you plan your trip to Queenswood whether you live on Vancouver Island, mainland BC, or will be coming from elsewhere in Canada or the US.
US guests need a passport to travel to Canada.

Getting to Queenswood
We are located on 2494 Arbutus Road, Cadboro Bay, just 2 minutes by car east of the University of Victoria. Queenswood is about 20 minutes from downtown Victoria by car and 30 by bus.
Queenswood encourages you to think green in your travel choices! Please consider carpooling, riding the bus or taking your bike to get to Queenswood. Our parking is limited so we do charge a parking fee for cars staying more than a month (four weeks). Bicycles and mopeds can be securely stored in the basement at no charge. Although Victoria is located on an island, travel to and from the city is safe and convenient with a wide range of traveling options to suit your personal needs and schedule.
We encourage our guests to use carpools, bus, and bicycle to get to Queenswood and to consider a donation to the Greening Queenswood fund if you would like to offset emissions from your air travel. From Up-Island by Car
Follow the Island Highway south. Take a left onto McKenzie Avenue. Follow McKenzie Avenue until you get to the University of Victoria (UVic). Take a left at Finnerty Road then a right at Arbutus Road (which is at the end of Finnerty Road, a three-way stop). Follow Arbutus Road until you cross Haro Road. Queenswood will be on your left (2494), right across from Goward House. Follow the driveway to the parking lot. You have arrived!
Follow Highway 14 east towards Victoria. In Colwood turn onto Highway 1 to Victoria. At the McKenzie Avenue/Admiral Road intersection, turn left. Follow McKenzie Avenue for about 7 km east, then after passing Centennial Stadium/UVic. Take a left at Finnerty Road then a right at Arbutus Road (which is at the end of Finnerty Road, a three-way stop). Follow Arbutus Road until you cross Haro Road. Queenswood will be on your left (2494), right across fromGoward House. Follow the driveway to the parking lot. You have arrived!
From Downtown Victoria by Bus
BC Transit bus at Douglas and Fort Street, Bus #11 UVic (east). Schedules can be viewed at the bus stop or online. Bus #11 stops right at Queenswood every 20 minutes or so in peak periods. You might like to tell the bus driver where you want to get off, and ask if he/she will let you know when it's time. Queenswood is one of the last stops on this route, just after Queenswood Dr. on the right-hand side. Queenswood (2494 Arbutus Rd.) is also across from Goward House. Walk down the drive and come in the main entrance.
From Downtown Victoria by Car
Turn north onto Blanshard, and follow it for about 5 km, then turn right onto McKenzie Avenue and continue for about 7 km., past Centennial Stadium/UVic. Take a left down Finnerty Rd., then a right at Arbutus Rd. (which is at the end of Finnerty Rd., a three-way stop). Follow Arbutus Rd. until you cross Haro Rd. From the University of Victoria (UVic) by Bus
Click here for a list of buses from around Greater Victoria. From UVic, take the #11 bus from the bus loop at UVic (#11 Tillicum Mall, south). Queenswood is across from Goward House on Arbutus Rd. Walk down the drive and come in the main entrance.
From the University of Victoria (UVic) by Walking
You can walk to Queenswood in about 20 minutes if you walk down toward Cadboro Bay village, down Sinclair to where it meets Haro (pedestrians can walk down that way, but cars can't get through.) Walk down the slope to Haro Road, then down Haro to Arbutus, then turn right onto Arbutus Road. Queenswood is across from Goward House on Arbutus Rd. Walk down the drive and come in the main entrance.
From the University of Victoria (UVic) by Bike
If you can cycle to UVic, you can bike to Queenswood! Just head down McKenzie and instead of turning right into UVic on Finnerty Road, turn left on Finnerty Road, then coast downhill to Arbutus. Swing right and go past the Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children, cruise past Haro, and then, with a final push up the small hill, Queenswood will be on your left (2494), right across from Goward House. By Sea
From Anacortes Island, USA
Ferry from Anacortes Island on Washington State Ferries: You will dock in Sidney, about 30 km north of Victoria. Follow the signs to Highway 17 (Victoria). With car: Turn left/south onto the Highway. In approximately 20 minutes take the University of Victoria/ McKenzie Avenue exit. Turn left onto McKenzie Avenue then continue for approximately 7 km. Turn right onto Finnerty Road, go down a few blocks to Arbutus Road, and turn right onto Arbutus. Queenswood Centre will be on your left (2494), right across from Goward House. Follow the driveway to the parking lot. On foot: you can get a bus in Sidney to go downtown (bus #70). Ask for a green transfer. The trip into Victoria will take a bit more than an hour. Get off the bus at Douglas Street and Fort Street downtown and from there follow the directions above on how to get from downtown Victoria to Queenswood by bus.
From Seattle, USA (Aboard the Seattle-Victoria Clipper) and Port Angeles, USA (Aboard the Black Ball Transport)
With a car: you will dock in Victoria's inner harbour. Follow Belleville St. east to Blanshard St. Turn north onto Blanshard, and follow it for about 5 km then turn right onto McKenzie Avenue and continue for about 7 km. After passing Centennial Stadium/UVic on your left, turn right onto Finnerty Road. Follow Finnerty a few blocks to Arbutus Road, and turn right onto Arbutus. Queenswood Centre will be on your left (2494), right across from Goward House. Follow the driveway to the parking lot.
On foot: walk behind the Empress Hotel to the bus station and follow the directions above on taking the bus to Queenswood from downtown Victoria.
From Vancouver, Canada (Aboard BC Ferries Terminal)
With a car: after the ferry has docked in Swartz Bay Terminal (outside of Victoria), follow the rest of the ferry traffic down highway 17 toward Victoria. Take the exit at McKenzie Avenue (a sign will indicate the route to University of Victoria) and turn left onto McKenzie Avenue at the light. Follow McKenzie Avenue until you get to the University. Take a left at Finnerty Road then a right at Arbutus Road (which is at the end of Finnerty Road, a three-way stop). Follow Arbutus Road until you cross Haro Road. Queenswood Centre will be on your left (2494), right across from Goward House. Follow the driveway to the parking lot.
By bus from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria: the bus leaves from the Pacific Central Station - 1150 Station Street - Located next to the Main Street-Science World Skytrain Station. It may also do scheduled pick-ups along the route. Please check www.pacificcoach.com for schedule and fares. The bus will go on the ferry, then continue on to downtown Victoria to the Victoria Bus Depot at 700 Douglas Street, behind the Empress Hotel. From there you can follow the directions above about how to get to Queenswood from downtown Victoria by bus.
From the Tsawwassen Ferry (www.ferries.bc.ca) as a walk-on passenger, with no vehicle
Option 1: Once you get on the ferry to Swartz Bay (Victoria), listen for the announcement about buying a ticket for the Pacific Coach Lines (www.pacificcoach.com) bus to downtown Victoria. Go to the desk right away and buy your ticket, as they are only open for the first 20 minutes of your trip. When the ferry announces its arrival in Swartz Bay, go down to the bus and get on. It will be about a 40 minute ride downtown to the main bus station, where you will get off. Get off the bus at the last stop (Douglas Street depot) downtown and from there follow the directions above on how to get from downtown Victoria to Queenswood by bus. Option 2: Walk off the ferry and once outside where taxis drive up, look for the BC Transit bus shelter on the right. Schedules can be viewed at the bus stop or online. (hyperlink the following web address to ìonline.î: www.bctransit.com/regions/vic/?p=1.txt.) from the ferry (bus #70). Ask for a green transfer. The trip into Victoria will take a bit more than an hour. Get off the bus at Douglas Street and Fort Street downtown. Cross Douglas Street and Fort Street to the bus stop there and transfer to #11 as noted above in the directions on how to get from downtown Victoria to Queenswood by bus. (If you have a green transfer, you donít have to pay again when you get on the #11.) Option 3: Friday and Sunday only: walk off the ferry at Swartz Bay and outside to the public bus stop (on your right), and take Bus 76 Swartz Bay/UVic (limited Service, Friday and Sunday only). Once at UVic, catch the #11 South (#11 Tillicum Mall) and get off at the fourth stop, right in front of Queenswood. Alternatively, you can use the payphone or your cell phone at the UVic bus loop to call a cab to take you to Queenswood, which is just a few minutes away: Yellow Cab (250) 381-2222.
By Air
More than 50 flights a day connect Victoria with Victoria's International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma Airport and several other major cities throughout Canada and the US. Regular float plane and helicopter service to downtown Victoria is available from Vancouver and from downtown Seattle- it's a beautiful way to arrive. The Victoria International Airport is approximately 35 minutes from Queenswood. From the Victoria International Airport
You can take a taxi from the taxi stand at the airport, or for a less expensive and more green option take the AKAL airport shuttle bus (www.victoriaairportshuttle.com) right outside the arrivals door and ask them to take to you to Queenswood Centre. From the Vancouver International Airport
Pacific Coach Lines offers direct service to and from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and downtown Victoria. Get the Pacific Coach Lines bus to Downtown Victoria (which includes a nice ferry ride from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay) and then take the BC Transit bus at Fort Street (www.bctransit.com) to UVic (bus #11). Then follow directions from downtown as noted above.
