Sr. Marina was educated at both UVic and UBC, then obtained an MA in theology at Boston College in 1995. She taught the elementary grades for 25 years, then moved into adult education, specializing in theology. While as a chaplain and adult educator at UBC, she became interested in the film as a medium of challenge and hope, and developed a film festival.
