Tom Williams Comes Home

Posted on Feb. 27, 2009 by Kate Fagan Taylor, Executive Director

Tom Williams had a hometown welcome last night here at Queenswood's "Passionate Lives" speaker series. He has personal roots at Queenswood through his mom Kathy and her friends who once lived at Queenswood, so it was a special night for our community.

The audience was large and enthusiastic, and included guests from local nonprofits, students, sabbaticals, and long-time friends of Queenswood. Tom's message was humourous, moving, fun and inspiring- everyone has been talking about it today.

I have been reflecting on a key insight Tom passed along, about how to life your passion: to "follow your tears" -- if a situation or cause moves your heart, then it is something you can act on with passion.  In these tough economic times, it is great to know that Tom's website makes it possible for any one of us can make a difference as a $5 philanthopist.  For small nonprofits or individuals who have a cause to share, we can post our causes to invite donations from interested supporters. What a gift givemeaning.com is.  We are so glad we could help share the news about it.
