In this workshop, we will examine the innate gift of the voice as defined in Hebraic anthropology and as later developed in the writings of the Desert Fathers. In returning to these ancient texts, we see that our inner world contains a hierarchy, with the body, soul and heart working together in a dynamic way.
This is different from the Western mindest that often places them in opposition to one another. These basic spiritual truths run through the fabric of the major religions, with the heart being the crossroads between the human and the Divine, the common denominator for the indwelling of God and the creation of community.
Through a time of teaching, sharing and practical exercises, we will learn to quiet our soul and connect with our "Deep Voice" bringing our longings and needs into the conscious world of prayer. We will also discover "Spontaneous song" as practiced in the early church which evolved into Gregorian chant and provdes the liturgy that we have today.
