buddhism – everything you ever wanted to know, but were afraid to ask! (sept 24-26)
Join Ven. Eshu Martin, Abbot of the Victoria Zen Centre for a weekend of exploration and frank discussion about the expansive and diverse world of Buddhism.
Topics will include:
- Buddha-lingo: Did you run over your dogma with your karma? What do all of those Buddhist terms mean?
- Who’s the Buddha?: An historical, social, and spiritual overview of the life and teaching of the Siddhartha Gautama, the man who became the Buddha.
- Buddhist practice in plain English: An exploration of different forms of meditation and contemplation from various Buddhist traditions; in stillness, motion, and voice.
- Buddha’s big belly: Understanding Buddhist iconography. Who are the key figures, and what do they mean?
There will be an opportunity for group discussions and Q&A, as well as opportunity for one-on-one meetings with Ven. Eshu.
