Accommodation

Our bedrooms are simple spaces designed for rest, relaxation and quiet.  Each bedroom is furnished with a bed, dresser, closet, desk, easy-chair and sink.  You can request any one of three bedroom types (sabbatical rates vary according to bedroom type):

  • Single bed with shared bathroom
  • Single bed with private ensuite bathroom
  • 2 single beds with shared bathroom

 

Meals

Food feeds both our bodies and souls.  That's why food is so important to us at Queenswood.  And while you're on retreat at Queenswood, you're here to focus on other things than preparing food, so we take pride in making it for you.

When you register for a retreat, please remember to indicate if you have any allergies or dietary requirements so that we can plan ahead for you.  If you're gluten sensitive, please plan to bring your own bread and other staple foods, which you can leave in the dining room fridge.

Silence is an important part of the spiritual practice of many of the world's religious and spiritual traditions.  In order to make silent meals regularly possible for guests, each meal offers a silent and social seating.  You're welcome to arrive for the silent seating and stay through the social seating.


Sample Menus

Breakfast | silent seating 7:45-8:15, social seating 8:15-9:00*

  • Hot oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar
  • Poached eggs on homemade potato latkes with chives from Queenswood garden
  • Hot oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar
  • Homemade granola with yogurt
  • Assorted homemade muffins, scones or cinnamon buns
  • Hot oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar
  • Fresh omlette

*Please note that if you plan to attend yoga from 8-9am, there will still be food for you when you're finished!   Breakfast stops being cooked at 9am, but it will be left out for you until 9:20.

Lunch | silent seating 11:45-12:15, social  seating 12:15-1:00

  • Roasted squash soup
  • Shrimp melt on homemade foccacia bread
  • Pumpkin cheesecake squares
  • Tomato and basil soup
  • vegetarian samosas with mango chutney
  • Granola bars
  • Potato leek soup

Dinner | silent seating 5:15-5:45, social  seating 5:45-6:15

  • Garlic and lemon-roasted chicken
  • Buttermilk mashed potatoes

  • Sesame-crusted wild salmon
  • Rice pilaf
  • Medley of roasted vegetables
